Job Description
A camper aide’s responsibility is to integrate campers with special needs into their peer group and all camp settings.
The role includes appropriately modifying and adapting activities according to their camper’s needs and abilities. A camper aide supports appropriate social interactions between their camper and other campers.
The staff member also acts as a second adult and role model within the camper group and switches roles with the group leader when appropriate.
Requirements
The requirements are the same as for a regular group leader, but the ideal candidate has had experience and an interest in working with individuals with special needs. A camper aide is enthusiastic, patient, detail oriented, and consistent.
