The camp season official begins with staff orientation. Every summer we bring together our staff from various backgrounds so your child has an enriching summer. Our goal is to have staff members that inspire, manage, teach and protect your child at camp. During the week our staff plays and learns from other staff and directors how to achieve these goals. Here is an eclectic collection of same random shots.
WSI Training
The key to a successful aquatics program is properly trained swim instructors. Each summer, prior to our general staff training, we hold a one week Water Safety Instructor (WSI) class. Candidates must be proficient at the following strokes; Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breast Stroke, Elementary Backstroke, and Butterfly. During the class candidates will improve their swim strokes and learn how to teach swim lessons. Below are a few pictures from an afternoon session:
Climbing Tower Training
On June 5, 2010 the Discovery Day Camp staff training officially began with a day of training on our climbing tower.
The weather was wonderful as specialists and directors were trained in proper climbing tower procedures. Here are a few pictures from the day.
